Why is customer service important to you? Because fashion is complex and ever-changing, it takes help and honest feedback to make certain looks work.

For those of you who have your clubs cleaned and ready to go, we've got a great new line of golf-wear that may not improve your swing but will certainly have you dressed to a tee.

Are you willing to spend more on a unique item? Yes! I tend to choose custom suits and shirts believing there is value in the extra cost.
What's your favorite go-to piece? I love a good fedora. My tweed and corduroy sport coats are perfect with jeans or khakis.
Who is your favorite fashion icon? I like Ralph Lauren, and model my dress after some of his styles.
Why do you like shopping at Aala Reed? Aala Reed carries great casual shirts with fun colors and patterns. Their collection of ties and pocket squares are the best I've seen!

A Sneak Peek at Fall 2010!

One thing I've learned in the last 8 years since Aala Reed opened its doors, is that seasons fly by much more quickly for us retailers. I mean, we've just started bringing in new "spring transitional" merchandise and we've already selected your wardrobe for next fall!

Our first buying trip for the season took place at the Chicago Collective this past weekend, so we snapped a few pics to give you a glimpse into the future...

Along with picking up several new designers for Aala Reed, we revisited some "old friends" including True Grit (AMAZING outerwear & shirt jackets) and an all time AR favorite, Mod-o-Doc loungewear (it's more comfy than ever).

Outerwear has never looked so good with a broad range of styles and prices. Fabrics of choice include tweed, solid black or navy, with epaulets, metal buttons, and zipper pockets as details which really make Fall '10 fresh.

Sweaters abound with loose cotton weaves for a luxurious classic look. Is there anything sexier than a classic fisherman's sweater?

And yes, sport shirts are still your number 1 "go-to" piece, however say good-bye to embroidery and embellishments as they are a thing of the past. Now you will see beautiful colors, and whimsical details on button plackets, sleeves, cuffs and collars to make each shirt a piece of art.

After very LONG days packed with appointments, millions of fabric swatches ("Didn't we see that same shirt 3 times today?"), selecting the perfect style for each Aala Reed customer ("That's a total Bjorn shirt!"), it's always nice to catch up and unwind with our vendors who, in the last 8 years, have become dear friends.

That's Fall '10 in a nutshell, Gents! But spring is right around the corner, and Aala Reed is receiving new clothing weekly. Come on in and see what great fashion awaits you!

Happy New Year Everyone!

We are truly blessed to have made it through 2009 with our health, loving families, friends, and the belief that through every adversity comes equal or greater opportunity.

As many of you have read and we retailers personally experienced, it was not a year to brag about. We've all been affected by the worst economic crisis the country's faced in over 20 years, and it has touched many facets of business. It doesn't matter what field you're in: manufacturing, finance, real estate, retail, government, etc... It felt like a never-ending chain reaction of sorts.

That being said, we also have MANY friends who, when asked "How's biz?", were able to respond, "You know, I feel bad saying this but we had one of our best years ever!" Feel badly? About being successful? That's the most preposterous thing I've ever heard! After all the gloom and doom of the last year we LONG to hear a good success story -- especially from our friends.

Therefore, I've made a pact with myself and those around me to be more positive, optimistic, and look forward to the new year. I want to share the joy of my friends' success stories in the hopes of passing along some good karma and inspiration to others.

Jim Rohn said it best: "Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want."

There's No Place Like MKE For The Holidays!

Aala Reed knows what a crazy roller-coaster this past year has been for everyone! We all have friends and family who have been hit pretty hard financially, and now we're at that time of year when the pressure's on to "give" something tangible.

Obviously as a retailer we'd love for everyone to do their shopping here, however we also appreciate that most often, the perfect gift is that which one can't touch or feel, but rather EXPERIENCE and share with loved ones.

The Downtown Milwaukee Holiday of Lights event was one such experience. Aala Reed was invited to participate in the fabulous fashion show which was a huge treat. But it was the lighting of the Christmas decorations and fireworks display afterward I shared with dear friends which really made me stand back and realize how lucky I was to be the recipient of such a special gift.

So on behalf of our Aala Reed family - Laura, Kristina, Keia, Schatze & Janice - we wish you the most healthy, happy, memorable and prosperous holiday season full of priceless experiences!

Clean Water Is Always Chic at Aala Reed!

Aala Reed's 8th Anniversary Party was a celebration of great fashion in Milwaukee and the progress of clean water initiatives in SE Wisconsin. Representatives of MMSD, The Sweet Water Trust and GANT USA mingled with Milwaukee's finest last Thursday, while enjoying flavorful food from Bosley on Brady and great tunes from DJ Fortune.

One lucky guest won the amazing gift package for one-night's stay at the Hotel InterContinental, dinner at Kil@Wat, and a $100 gift certificate at Aala Reed. All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales benefit The Sweet Water Trust.

We can't believe it's been EIGHT YEARS since Aala Reed opened our doors with the goal of making sure Milwaukee's men always dress their best. To celebrate we're rolling out the red carpets, inviting several guests of honor, and throwing YOU - our customers - a huge "thank you" soiree!

Brady Street Rolls Out The Red Carpets!

New York kicked off Fashion Week by holding its first "Fashion's Night Out" on Thursday, September 10th. And to prove to critics everywhere that Milwaukee DOES really have its fingers on the fashion pulse, Brady Street boutiques rolled out their own red carpets and showcased their fall collections.

Stores stayed open late and offered guests a wide selection of "beverages" and in-store specials, but the main attraction was the Paparazzi Piazza where everyone had a chance to feel like a celeb on the red carpet. Paparazzi snapped away while passers-by could strike a pose and soak up their 15 minutes of fame.

Cintas Corporation provided red carpets for all participating Brady boutiques and for our Paparazzi Piazza. We'd especially like to thank Antonio McDaniel of Cintas for coming to the event and smiling for the cameras!

Lela Fashion Show Featuring Aala Reed!

For the first time ever, Aala Reed Men's Clothier will be joining the ladies of Lela Boutique for their "Under The Tent" fashion show!

The "Paris-style" runway show is Saturday, September 12th, beginning with cocktails at 7:00pm and the runway show at 9:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door, and amazing gift-filled swag bags will be available for a limited number of guests.

Aala Reed will feature fall looks from "Cold Method," the Amsterdam-based contemporary menswear designer, whose line includes sharp cut dress suits & jackets, slim-fit shirts and knits. The collection also offers a dynamic contrast with military bomber jackets, bulky sweaters and cargo pants.

So mark your calendars for THE runway show of the year!

Brady Street boutique Aala Reed is back to its old ways again.

After three years of operating as fashion source for both men and women, the store is reverting back to selling solely men's attire, as it did when it originally opened at 1320 E. Brady St. in 2001.

When former neighbor Three Graces relocated to the Third Ward (Three Graces has since closed), Aala Reed's owner Laura Lutter Cole expanded into that space to create an adjoining women's boutique. Now, she says, she is excited about going back to catering exclusively to men.

"The men's clothing industry has done a very good job of adjusting to the downturn economy by offering more reasonable price points that we can in turn pass along to our customers," she says.

"So we've found some great new designers as well as broadening the selection we'll carry from some of our current brands -- Ted Baker, Martin Gordon, Gant, etc.-- all at very attractive prices without compromising the quality of the clothing."
